How the walks are graded

We work hard to set and refine these gradings so please read and respect them. It can ruin the day for other walkers if you set out on a walk you cannot manage. Sorry to be grumpy but this is one of our biggest problems each year so please indulge us. Thanks.

Grade 1

Medium fitness level required. Tracks are of good standard, well formed, very easy walking, suitable for anyone.

Grade 2

Good fitness level required. Tracks are of medium standard, surfaces vary, some steep grades, suitable for most people.

Grade 3

Good fitness level required. Tracks are of variable quality with some steep sections.

Grade 4

High fitness level required. Tracks variable to rough, steep sections (14 years and older)

Grade 5

High fitness level required. Tracks variable to rough, can be slippery following heavy rain, longer distance and/or more steep sections than Grade 4 (14 years and older)
