Join us for an "on the ground" tour of the beautiful Matakana wine region. This amazing trail offers wine, countryside, beautiful lunch, and entry to the remarkable sculpture gardens and galleries of Omaha’s famed Sculptureum. It is a remarkably package and we can’t wait to show you around.
Our walk will start at Hyperion Wines, for the first tasting, with our very entertaining host, John. An uphill ramble across farmland, complete with a great view at the top, will lead us to our next stop at Omaha Bay Vineyard. Our hosts, Bev & Hegman, will showcase their wine selection for us in a stunning setting overlooking Omaha Bay. A downhill trek will then take us on to Merryfields and hosts, Michelle and Peter, for a tasting at their cute boutique family vineyard.
A hop through the back fence, and a meander through a large mandarin orchard will lead us to our final destination of the day. The renowned Sculptureum gardens, gallery and on site restaurant, Rothko, will accommodate us for lunch with beautiful tasting platters while we enjoy sampling their wines. After lunch there is free time to wander the spectacular gardens and galleries for a couple of hours until the bus collects us to return to Warkworth.
You will be able to purchase wines at cellar door prices from any of the vineyards that we visit, and the wine will be delivered to the Sculptureum and loaded on to the bus in time for the afternoon departure.
This is a remodelled version of a walk we have run previously and it always sells out quickly so make sure you get some friends together for this excellent adventure.
